Hey Reader,

The sun is starting to show off, I’m already planning my summer garden, and I even saw the first bee of the season yesterday. I’m normally a sweater weather gal, but this spring has me excited for new beginnings in life and in my biz!
If you’re like me, you like to keep things neat and tidy. Did you know that your email list should get a nice cleaning once or twice per year? I like to do this in the springtime when everything else around me symbolizes growth and new opportunities. It just makes everything feel… complete.

🤔 What’s so important about cleaning up my email list?
- This is a great time to scrub inactive email subscribers. People who aren’t engaging with your emails (not opening, not responding, not clicking, or bouncing) are taking up a lot of virtual energy within your email service provider. You especially don’t want inactive subscribers if you have an ESP that charges you based on the number of subscribers on your list. Filter these names out and archive them.
- Test email automations to make sure they’re working correctly. Sometimes tech gets wonky and needs a little guidance. Make sure your active automations are aligned with what you want subscribers to see and interact with.
- Review existing email sequences. Our brands and goals shift, so reread/rewrite active email sequences to give your subscribers the best experience possible. Remember, you want your emails to leave a positive (relevant) impression.
- Plan your email marketing strategy! Use your springtime energy to plan your email strategy for the rest of the year. I know that sounds like a lot of work upfront, but you’ll feel better knowing everything is mapped out and all you have to do is click publish. To make your email planning easy peasy lemon squeezy, I’ve made this free Mission-Driven Email Strategy Planner. Snag it now if you haven’t already!

Happy spring (email) cleaning! I hope your week is filled with good vibes and sunshine. 🌞
