AI-generated content is just digital plastic.
Unoriginal ideas are permeating platforms, with just enough variation to pass as "authentic". AI-generated content is another shiny object that we're spending too much time on, under the guise of saving time, with no real data to show for it.
Just regurgitated thoughts dirtying up our virtual realm.
I'm not saying you should be anti-AI, but I am saying you shouldn't depend on technology for human-centered connections and then act surprised when it doesn't pan out. We don't connect with screens. We connect with people.
Last month, I attended Kit's Craft + Commerce in Boise, Idaho. With about 400 creators in the room, we talked alllll about AI and how - while it's permanently changing how we run our businesses - it can't do the most important thing for us.
It can't create our community.
We've gotten so far removed from face-to-face connection and human-centered messaging that we are accepting watered-down thoughts as ground-shifting.
The AI bubble is about to burst. And when it does, it's your in-person network and relationship-centered messaging that will keep you afloat while everyone else scrambles to figure out how to talk to people again.
Without further sounding like Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas with my people-first opinions, I'll tell ya that you can use AI and still prioritize relationships through your messaging. Here's how:
✓ Use it for organizing or outlining courses, new offers, or lead generators.
✓ Use Claude for research and ask it for a list of sources - this checks your info and avoids plagiarism.
✓ If you're running a solo or bootstrapped show, use AI to streamline your systems so you can spend more energy on building real-life connections and business-propelling tasks.
You don't have to be a caveman to be successful, but prioritizing basic human needs in your business will work out for you when this AI bubble bursts.
